"Old" Update

This is actually an update from Labor Day (we've gotten even more done since then -- yahoo!), but I wanted to make sure I got it in. Also, these pics were already loaded onto the computer and the camera with the new ones is up at the property with Ben! On Labor Day our friends the Yosts came up to help as well as Brennan, my parents, and Ben's mom. It was great to have so much fun and get stuff done! We are so blessed to have such great family (yes, Yosts are considered family!)!!! I love it.

I started taking pics during our lunch break. I think I snapped this one of Greg and my mom right after Isaac tipped his chair over...wicked funny!! I think the boy was a bit tipsy! hehe

Isaac in the chair he tipped, Pappy, and my dad getting hydrated.

Mammie, Jacob, and Isaac snacking on some apples.

Mom, Mammie, and I worked on digging trenches in the stone for the PVC pipes to go in. The pipes are sewer pipes for the kitchen and bathrooms. Isaac and Jacob loved playing in the stones and "helping"!

After we got the pipes in the stone we had to bury them.

Ben and Brennan worked on the roof putting up the sheathing...aka super scary...

The roof jacks worked well...along with ropes!

They were pretty high up but not as high as the front!

The "ground crew" worked to get the materials cut and up to the guys on the roof.

If you've ever seen Sadie and Brennan together, then you know that this photo shows a lot of progress!! For some reason Sadie is super scared of Brennan. She's around him a lot, but for some reason she just hasn't gotten used to him. We assume she was abused by someone who looked or sounded like Brennan...which breaks my heart. :-( Thankfully over the past few weeks she's been warming up to him and didn't even freak out too much when he crept up behind her and scooped her up! It makes such an adorable pic too!!

My mom decided to take pictures so we actually have proof that I work on the house too!! These pictures are of us putting down the foam insulation over the vapor barrier, then putting the rebar over that. (Then Ben and his mom put Pex tubing over all the floor for the radiant floor heating during the week before the concrete was poured -- pics to follow.)

I'm not exactly sure what Brennan's doing, but I think he was going to cut the foam so it fit around the PVC pipes.

Time for the rebar!

Sometimes we have to cage our crazy helpers when they act up!! hehe

They carefully carried the rebar...with gloves on!

Ben was putting the finishing touches on the floor.

Even potty breaks (aka driving down the road to use the potty at the gas station) turn into fun times when my mom and I are involved! It may or may not have included "borrowing" a sign, taking filthy children with us, a toilet that didn't flush, a poo pyramid, grooving to some Fergalicious sounds (and teaching Isaac to say Fergalicious), falling into my car, two boys chowing down Reeses cups since they weren't allowed in the car, and several other "interesting" things!! hehe

We ended the day with a campfire on which we cooked foil meals (hamburger, potatoes, carrots, onion, and seasonings wrapped in foil) and fresh corn from our neighbors' farm...delish!! And the view from our house site/campfire was gorgeous...a clear sky full of stars...a perfect ending to the day!

Hopefully I'll get some up-to-date pics up by the end of the week.
