Destructo Dog

OK...so I have been a bad blogger and have failed to update my post regularly. Since I'm not sure if anyone really reads this often, I'm not sure if I have anyone to apologize to! :-)

Well, I do have another pup story (shocker, right!). Two weekends ago Ben was out of town for work and I went to a youth leaders' retreat, so my awesome brother-in-law Brennan stayed with Sadie. He had to go to work early Saturday morning, so it was basically like a work day routine for Sadie. Well, I got home in the early evening then went out again to church (my friends' church which has Saturday evening church...pretty cool!)...anyway...I let my beloved pup stay out of her kennel while I was gone.

In order to fully understand this story, we'll go back about a month or so for another story... On a Sunday evening we were going to be gone for a few hours, so I decided to let Sadie stay out of her kennel and roam in the living room / dining room with the doors to our room and the office closed and a gate up at the entrance to the kitchen. She did wonderfully...chewed her bone, ran around, and stayed on the correct side of the gate. So a few weeks later I decided to let her do the same thing while we went out to dinner. We came home and she was on the correct side of the gate, however the kitchen had debris all over it. The debris was a shredded bag of doggie food, which my beloved pup decided to help herself to. She was smart enough to look out the window to see when we were coming (and knocked off stuff on the windowsill) and jump back over like nothing happened...too funny!!

So this time I thought I'd outsmart her by putting a high-backed living room chair in the doorway along with the gate. She's usually wonderful and doesn't get on the furniture, so I thought we'd be safe. Well, I blame her insanity on some separation anxiety. This anxiety led her to climb the chair, leap over the back of it, skim the counter top on the other side (knocking off a paper on the counter), and end up in the forbidden kitchen. While in the kitchen, she decided to knock various things off the pantry shelf in what I believe was an attempt to get her treats that are on the top of the pantry shelf unit. She ripped apart a lot of the things that she knocked down, not to eat them but apparently just cause a mess! One of the most prominent things was a box of stuffing which was ripped open and the contents were spread throughout my kitchen! (FYI, my vacuum does get up stuffing mix!) On her rampage, she also decided to go through the open bathroom door and into our bedroom. There she knocked something over, but did not destroy anything thankfully. She also knocked off a curtain in the kitchen (again while looking out the window).

Needless to say, my beloved baby shall no longer roam alone while we're all gone! It's so strange, cause she's SO good when we're home! Even in the mornings, Ben is up early and she runs around by herself before I get up and doesn't get into anything! So kennel, sweet kennel shall remain her dwelling place in our absence! It's not a bad little palace for her to chill in anyway!

Yes, I have carpet in my kitchen...not so easy to clean! And, yes, the bowl is in the middle of my kitchen...not over in the pantry where it's supposed to be!

This is the stuffing mix...everywhere!

The green bag is a soup mix. Thankfully that was not shredded too badly!

My candy container...with chocolate...thankfully she didn't chow it down!

This shall be her home while we're gone...no more to roam!

Aww, poor Sadie was just lonely! I think you should get a second one to keep her company ;)
